ABORTION, MISCARRIAGE, AND STILLBIRTH

Approximately 260,000 abortions are performed annually in South Africa. The number of individuals and families affected by this is overwhelming. One of the saddest conversations in counselling is when an elderly lady tells about the baby or babies she lost years ago, whether through abortion, miscarriage, or stillbirth, and the overwhelming pain and longing over the years. Usually there had been no farewell and no closure while the unprocessed grieving process was a part of her life throughout.
